Summer Website Update

In honor of Maria Troutman’s brother’s 80th birthday and her sister’s upcoming birthday, I’ve added some of the oldest, most important documents my mother kept to this site.

They include documents regarding our family history and Margherita (Margo) and Nicola Messina. I translated those with typed text into English with Google Translate. (The scans feature the original followed by the translation.) I’ve added them to new Messina Family Gallery pages accessible through the “Galleries” link at the top.

I’ve also added the following:

  • Messina History page: Based on a 55-year-old letter, I added some of Margo Messina’s recollections from her childhood. Near the top, I’ve linked to Maria’s handwritten Messina family history from 20-30 years ago.
  • a new Index/Navigation page, which lets you browse family members’ profiles by surname or by family generation and lists notable relatives. The “generations” pages feature family tree diagrams.
  • photos of deceased Messina ancestors to group and individual gallery pages
  • Maria’s audio/video page now links back to recordings of 2006 and 2017 interviews with her about her life.
  • Increased security: two-factor authentication by email or text is now available. If you want it, contact me to set it up.

I hope these updates will ease and enhance your browsing experience.

The site now feels more complete, but it’s still a work in progress. If you have any suggestions or corrections, please let me know. There are also some known bugs, which I’m looking into having fixed.

Logins: Most of you have access to the site. If you lost your password, contact me for a reset. And if you want an account, contact me and I’ll set one up.

Thanks, and love to all,

Michelle
